Emmanuel’s Journey: From a Childhood Dream to a Nursing Career Abroad
A Childhood Dream
Emmanuel's journey into nursing began when he was just ten years old. After falling ill and being taken to the hospital by his mother, he was deeply moved by the care and kindness shown to him by the nurses. That experience planted a seed in his heart, which would grow into a lifelong ambition to become a healthcare professional. He recalls thinking, “When I continue my studies, I will become a health care worker.”

Academic Dedication
From that moment on, Emmanuel’s path was clear. He completed his secondary education and enrolled at Mount Kenya University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. He became a registered nurse and was proud to have achieved his goal. He wanted to grow professionally, to gain broader exposure and expertise. His sights were set on working and studying abroad.

Discovering TYE
In 2022, while still at Mount Kenya University, Emmanuel learned about TYE through an announcement made in partnership with internal departments. They were seeking graduates for an opportunity to study and work in Austria. Emmanuel, driven by his ambition and the vision he had held for years, quickly signed up and began the process.

Navigating the Challenges
The road to Austria was not without its hurdles. The legalization and visa processes took longer than anticipated. While the initial timeline was 8 to 10 weeks, various delays stretched it further. Emmanuel also faced the daunting challenge of learning German while working a full-time job. Balancing both commitments was demanding, but he persisted. He reflects, “German is very serious. It's like work in itself.”

Support from Family and TYE
Through it all, Emmanuel found strength in his supportive family, who encouraged him to never give up. TYE played a crucial role as well. From guiding him through document processing to offering consistent encouragement and updates, their support made a significant difference. Emmanuel says, "Without them, we would rather give up. But their updates and encouragement really helped us."
Looking Ahead
Now that his flight is booked and the journey to Austria is finally beginning, Emmanuel is filled with hope. He dreams of continuing his education, becoming a professional nurse, and eventually contributing to an advanced healthcare system. He’s excited about the new opportunities and the growth that lies ahead.

Words of Encouragement
To others walking a similar path, Emmanuel offers words of wisdom: “Set your goal, describe it, plan for it, and work for it. Even Nelson Mandela says the same: It’s impossible until it’s done.” He encourages aspiring nurses not to give up, to keep pushing, and to believe in the future.
As Emmanuel begins this exciting new chapter in Austria, he carries with him a powerful message: With faith, perseverance, and the right support, no dream is out of reach.
